James D. Davis J

   James D. Davis Jr., 89, of Miletus Community, Salem WV completed his walk on the road to Heaven in his home with his family by his side on Sunday, December 27, 2020. 

   He was born October 6, 1931 in Industrial, WV, son of the late James Davis Sr and Louise Faye “Richards” Davis.

   He was married the love of his life and high school sweetheart JoAnne Gabriel Davis on June 15, 1952; they had sixty-two beautiful years together.

   They are the parents of three beautiful children who survive, James “Brad” Davis of San Francisco, CA, William “Randy” Davis and wife LeAnna of Salem and Kimberly Lou Sinnett and husband Justin of Salem; five grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Kevin “Bud” Ferrell, Jonna “Pumpkin” Ferrell, Clay Sinnett, and Xavier Sinnett; four brother in laws who are considered more like brothers, Bobby Gabriel (Mary Ann) of Clarksburg, Don Gabriel (Patty) of MD, Dave Gabriel (Mary) of Good Hope, and Jimmy Gabriel (Pixie) of Good Hope. 

   James was preceded in death by both his parents and wife JoAnne. 

   James graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Korean War, during which he received the Korean War Service Medal with two bronze stars, National Defense Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. He was a Staff Sergeant with eight years of service.  

   James was a member of the East Gate Masonic Lodge #796. He served for over fifty-three years, where he was a Master Mason. 

   He served as a city judge in the town of Salem for over twenty-seven years. He was the City Manager for two years. 

   He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving “Papa” and “Buddy” to his grandchildren. He had a special bond with his Bud “Kevin”. He was the best Dad and Papa, always there to lend a hand or to give advice.

   Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home of Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 2:00 – 7:00 PM; 

   A Private Funeral Service will be held at Davis Funeral Home of Salem, on Thursday with Pastor Chad Ash presiding. Interment will follow at Salem IOOF Cemetery.
