Aubra Galen “Butch”
Carpenter,
Aubra Galen “Butch” Carpenter, born December 28, 1939, entered eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 19, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Throughout his childhood, he was a member of the Doddridge County WV community – standing out as an all around sportsman and the oldest sibling of 8 brothers and sisters. This is also where he would meet the love of his life, and his wife of 63 years. After highschool, Butch went into the air force to serve his country from Pakistan and then finally settled down in Parkersburg WV, where he worked and retired as a chemical operator from G.E. Plastics (formerly known as Marbon).
He was preceded in death by his mother Waveline grace hill, father Aubra carpenter, step father Sam Williams, brothers Dean Carpenter and Larry Carpenter, and his sister Susanne Ash.
His spirit is carried on by his loving wife, Veda Carpenter (Cumpston), his daughter Missy Morrison and her husband Ed, his son Dave Carpenter and his wife Kellie, his four grandchildren Natasha Kirby, Megan Meeks, Jordan Carpenter, Jozie Carpenter, his new great grand daughter, Hadlee Meeks, and his siblings Jackie, Gayanne Crislip, Richard Carpenter, and MaryLou Miller.
If you knew him, you were blessed to learn many lessons from Butch in this lifetime. May we remember him in the little things – such as carrying a handkerchief around, picking up coins off the ground, taking a sip of a cold carbonated beverage and ending it with a reveling “ah baby”, or simply whistling a tune.
May we be as thoughtful as him, saying things only when they are meaningful or witty.
May we be adventurous as him, traveling across the country to go on hunting and fishing trips with his son and brothers in law.
May we be as patient as him, waiting lovingly on his wife as she persued and accomplished a wonderful career with no drivers license.
Let us realize, like he did, that luxuries in life are also the mundane – a made bed, a set alarm, a watch to put on in the morning, and a fresh cup of coffee.
If something good happens in your life and you wish to share the light, we encourage you to use Butch’s favorite saying… “I’ll tell the world.”
Services will be Saturday 11:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor David Cumpston officiating. Burial will be at Union Mission Cemetery in Doddridge County. Visitation will be Friday 6-8 PM.
We would also like to take this time to thank Hospice Housecalls, who stepped in and helped our family navigate a care plan with the utmost compassion and professionalism. What a blessing they were during this difficult time. They deserve to be recognized.
