Letters to the Editor

Letter to the Editor

Nov. 7, 2023
Dear Editor,
I received this morning an email concerning the status of the AR 15.
Read the letter I sent to Senator Capito and Congressman Alex Mooney.
As a firearms owner I get emails from various organizations pertaining to this debate.
According to the National Foundation for Gun Rights, I received this email stating that the Seventh District Circuit Court of Appeal‘s just ruled that “the AR 15 is not an arm as far as the Second Amendment is concerned. “ This something I’ve written about awhile back about twisting meaning of words. The Seventh District Circuit Court of Appeals is changing word meanings by dropping part of the word. So if the AR 15 is not an “arm”, is it then a fire?
We need final clarifications on our, the people’s, rights on this topic. Every circuit court can issue anything that enters their pea brains and gun ban proponent’s desires.
Owners of LEGAL firearms agree the AR 15 is a firearm. The gun ban proponents will change the designation to fit their narrative.
I respect their right to oppose my views. I realize I have a responsibility to protect their views. However, I have zero tolerance to the change of definitions at their will.
Is it possible to have the Supreme Court make a final definition of a firearm, arm, gun etc.
The only written definitions are listed below and I refuse to accept the definitions by the 7th Court Of Appeals just because they misunderstand terminology.
If the 7th Court Of Appeals does not designate the AR 15 as an “arm” then we should not have to have a background check to purchase an AR 15?
Allow me to clarify myself. I don’t mind the background check for purchase. Lord knows there are those that should not have a firearm.
I believe most issues are deliberately confused to bewilder the law abiding citizens.
Again, what is the process to get the Supreme Court to rule on this topic? A determination from the court may quell a lot of negative emotions of gun owners.
On another note the previous response from your office shed a positive light on my opinion on your efforts.
Thank you.
One definition of ARM
Arm2 — supply or provide with weapons.”both sides armed themselves with grenades and machine guns”
Guna weapon incorporating a metal tube from which bullets, shells, or other missiles are propelled by explosive force, typically making a characteristic loud, sharp noise.
Firearm
1 a rifle, pistol, or other portable gun.”Jones pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm with criminal intent”
RIFLE
1 a gun, especially one fired from shoulder level, having a long spirally grooved barrel intended to make a bullet spin and thereby have greater accuracy over a long distance. As in “a hunting rifle”.
Weapon
1 a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.”nuclear weapons”
◦ a means of gaining an advantage or defending oneself in a conflict or contest.”resignation threats had long been a weapon in his armory”.
AR-15–style rifle
Description
An AR-15–style rifle is any lightweight semi-automatic rifle based on or similar to the Colt AR-15 design. The Colt model removed the selective fire feature of its predecessor, the original ArmaLite AR-15, itself a scaled-down derivative of the AR-10 design by Eugene Stoner.
I took the definitions directly from google.
So the 7th District Court Of Appeals obviously has no idea of what they are talking about.
I see the changes in definitions to suit their narrative.
I didn’t go to law school, I did not learn how to spread male bovine excrement.
I’m an old schooler who was taught to use my dictionary. Some people should appeal to their educators for a refund because they are obviously educated beyond their intelligence.
Perhaps strongly several worded letters with definitions of terms to the 7th District Court Of Appeal explaining the fallacy of their attempt would be of some help to clarify the muddled minds.
We the people are always held responsible for violent actions of the unstable.
The 7th District Court Of Appeal should also read the “shall not be infringed” part of the second amendment.
I know I talk and write about gun control quite a bit. But no one is trying to take your golf clubs.
Watching the “Five” it is reported President Joe Biden administration unveiled a proposal to reintroduce grizzly bear populations in the federally-managed North Cascades National Park in northern Washington.
“Under the plan Friday, NPS and FWS would release up to seven grizzly bears annually into the North Cascades ecosystem over the course of the next five to 10 years. The administration’s overarching goal would be to establish a grizzly bear population of roughly 200 bears in the coming decades”.
In today’s world the average person is helpless against an eight hundred pound apex predator that will see meat hiking through the woods. Another point, the bear has no boundaries. They can wander into a neighborhood and reek havoc attacking anything in search of food or protecting territory. Normally humans lose.
With all of the issues in the world such as, war in the Middle East, natural disasters, high inflation, high food prices, high fuel prices and failure to control the southern border. Releasing 800 pound grizzlies is so much more important! Joe is so enlightened!
As always thank you to The military, various police agencies, first responders and medical professionals.
