Letter to the Editor

Juneteenth, 2023

Dear Editor,

I never really understood Juneteenth until looking up the date for it’s significance. It was two years after the Proclamation Emancipation was enacted.

Then, President Abraham Lincoln, on September 22, 1882, issued the Proclamation Emancipation through Executive Order.

The Proclamation Emancipation was officially enacted January 1, 1863.

Why is January 1 or September 22 not celebrated? These are very important dates in the initial freeing of the slaves. I’m not wanting another federal holiday. However, these dates are significant.

Opal Lee, a former teacher, and activist, is largely credited for rallying others behind a campaign to make Juneteenth a federal holiday.

Although the Emancipation Proclamation came 2½ years earlier on January 1, 1863, many enslavers continued to hold enslaved Black people captive after the announcement, and Juneteenth became a symbolic date representing African-American freedom.

June 17, 2021

When did Juneteenth become a federal holiday? President Biden signed bipartisan legislation making Juneteenth a federal holiday on June 17, 2021. The bill passed the Senate unanimously and was approved 415-14 in the House.

Well, King Joe Biden reminded us he has taken it upon himself to declare June 19, a legal Federal Holiday he explained in the news.

Yes, because information was two years late getting to Texas we have to endure no mail delivery, closed banks, federal government agencies shutdown, no DMV, or other state agencies open for business, no garbage pickup. So we, again, have to postpone business because of a woke holiday.

I can understand and support Martin Luther King’s Birthday. He did the impossible for his time against all odds.

I could understand celebrating a President’s Birthday, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, these were significant times in the countries history.

They, the WOKE, doesn’t like Columbus Day, which should be a national holiday. But, a national holiday based on late mail delivery? “Come on man!” (Let’s Go Brandon)

Perhaps it should be a Texas holiday.

Just like the immigration policies, “let’s screw with the people and make them think we are doing something good. They’ll believe anything we tell them.”

Joe, you are sooooo lost.

I have become enthralled with some of the discussions by our Congress concerning some of the “appointees” for various offices. The best is the Congressional Oversight Committee. These Congressmen and women in the GOP have torn holes through the the liberals on a regular basis. I find their arguments somewhat forthright on our behalf. I say give the Dems he–!

The BATFE director is a moronic boot kicker for the Dems. I believe he think Congressman Gerald Nadler to be some God like creature with infinite wisdom. He is not smart enough to read the constitution for himself. He can not think for himself. He has to be directed by the members of the Democrat party.

I watched a Congressman, whose name escapes me, eat the director’s argument for lunch! The Director turned into a blubbering fool.

By the end of the 5 minutes allotted to Congressman, the Director was babbling and broken.

The “party” formerly controlling the Congress bossed these blubbering nimrods and molded them into nothing “yes” men and women.

Probably promised a high ranking, high paying government position to do the “party’s” bidding.

So, you have agency leadership who do not care about constitutionality only the bidding of the “party”.

Ladies and gentlemen, view some of these interviews. Most are only five to twenty minutes, and you can draw your own conclusions. It’s something to think about.

Remember,

“When all the guns have been banned,

When all the words have been censored,

When all the history has been erased,

When all the freedoms have been taken,

Only then will you discover that you should’ve spoken up and done something about it!”

I don’t know who said that which I quoted, but I, for one, will not go silently into the night!

We need to stand in solidarity to preserve our country, our way of life, our independence, our sovereignty, for our future generations.

As most in my generation has seen the dramatic and deleterious affects of “political correctness”. It’s time to stop it. God Bless America. May we keep it ours.

Some factions want a “one government world”.

In order to achieve that goal we have to lose our individuality and our independence, our sovereignty.

Is that what you want?

I wish to honor and praise the following:

Our military,

Our police departments,

Our first responders,

Our medical professionals,

You defend, protect, respond, and treat us to keep us safe secure, and healthy.
