Commission Discusses County’s Need for Transportation for Non-emergent Medical Patients

On August 2, 2022, after holding a moment of silence and reciting the Pledge, Shawn called the Regular County Commission to order at 4:00PM. 

The Commissioners approved the minutes from the previous meeting. 

There was nobody present fto make a Public Comment. 

Under New Business, Jada Stout, Intake Coordinator,  Ritchie Regional Medical Center, spoke to the Commissioners concerning the need for some type of transportation that would provide ones who have been taken to the hospital or doctors appointments and did not have a way to get back home. She stated that through her research she had found that around 45% of the citizens in the County to be without adiquate transportation to get  from hospital and medial appointments.

She said that she had found that 15  to 20 patients from Doddridge  County had been released from the hospital without a way to get home and  some were taken by Harrison Co. Sheriff’s Dept.  to CITGO on Rt. 23 and dropped off  to catch a ride home. 

A discussion was held concerning the cost and the availablity for funding non-emergent transportation. 

Question was raised of the possibility of  trying to get a bus service set up. This issue was tabled for future consideration. 

George OEMS Director presented a copy of the updated Local Emergency Planning Council’s By Laws and requested their approval. The By Laws were approved and signed. 

He went on and gave the E-911 report followed by reporting about a power outage in Greenwood during the last storm. 

Neal Romain reported that the DCAA’s checking balance id $416,003.00

and the Income is $46,417.21. 

There wasn’t any: CoW Report, Budget Revision, Exonerations, or Probate Orders. 

The Commission adjourned the meeting after paying the invoices.
