Naomi Jean Alderman

Naomi Jean Alderman, 90, of Salem departed this life on Sunday, May 8, 2022.  She was born in Doddridge Co. on April 3, 1932 a daughter of the late Basil and Mary Elizabeth Brown Romine.  On August 2, 1955 she married Denver Alderman who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard Alderman, West Union, Phillip Alderman and wife Annetta, AR.  two granddaughters, Abby McKee and Amy Gum, two grandsons, Aaron and Andrew Alderman, great grandchildren, Mari, Kaelyn, Imri, Simon, Aliyah, Anthony and Hadley, three sisters, Martha Devericks and husband Blaine, Salem, Peggy Nicholson, Paden City, Sue Shupe, Sistersville, two brothers, Basil Judson Romine and wife Jeannie, Charlestown, Roger Romine and wife Elizabeth, West Union and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Alderman had been a secretary for the Federal Government Army Security Agency as well as in the public sector.  She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Bender presiding.  Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.  The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 4-8 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.harbertfuneralhome.com.  Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Alderman family.

Barbara Ann Lak


Barbara Ann Lake, 74, of Frametown passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

She was born in Burnsville on February 25, 1948, to the late Edward A. Blake and Bobby Lou Blake.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Lee Lake. 

Barbara worked at Go Mart, Inc. for 25+ years and most recently worked as a Human Resources Assistant.  She truly enjoyed taking care of her lawn at home.  She had a huge heart for the people in her life and a passion for all animals.   She was a Baptist by faith.  

She will be forever remembered by her daughters of the heart, Sharon Mace of Gassaway, and Laura Rhodes of Weston; two dogs, Sadie and Percy and her cat, Miss Allie.  

In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and there will be no services.  

Special thanks to the WV Caring hospice care nurses for their compassionate care of Barbara.

Barbara Ann Pitcock


Barbara Ann Pitcock, 68 of Bridgeport, formerly of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022 at United Hospital Center. She was born June 11, 1953 in Saint Michaels, MD, daughter of the late John Franklin Pitcock Sr and Betty Jane Gochnauer Pitcock

Barbara retired in 2007 from Baltimore Public County Schools, where she taught English and Drama for more than thirty years. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, reading, and traveling. She traveled to more than 31 countries and all 50 states. Barbara loved her students, the theatre, her friends, family, and her cats. 

Barbara is survived by one brother, John Pitcock and wife Diane, New Milton, WV; several nieces and nephews.

Linda Lou Bennington

Linda Lou Bennington, 84, of Clarksburg departed this life on Monday, May 2, 2022 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.  She was born on December 22, 1937 at Weston a daughter of the late Clarence and Beulah Golden Bennington.  

Surviving are nine sisters, Joellen Trent (Grant), West Union, Karen Ross, Clarksburg, Judith Mc Elwain,  Morgantown, Margie Matheny (Virgil), Clarksburg, Wendy Sandstrom, West Union, Rose Russell, Parkersburg, Nancy VanScoy (Ed), Mineral Wells, Fay Whitlatch, (Tom), Hoschton, GA, Bonnie Stalnaker, (Harold), Lincolnton, NC, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Steve, Jerry and Carroll Bennington and one sister, Sharon Bennington.

Linda was a former employee of Mt. State Linen and enjoyed reading and bingo.  The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Sandy Ventura, Amedisys Hospice and the United Hospital Center for the wonderful care they provided to Linda.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Darrin VanScoy presiding.  Interment will follow in the Rock Grove Cemetery, Lynn. A.M. Bingham


A.M. Bingham, 82, of Monroe, LA succumbed Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at St. Francis Medical Center.  He is in God’s care now.

A.M. was born September 28, 1939, in Monroe to Jewel G. and Lessie (Fitzpatrick) Bingham as the youngest child of that union.  He claimed his father named him after his uncle, Alvin Monroe, and his mother agreed to a point, thus his legal name was only the initials A.M.

He attended school in Oak Grove and at Goodwill High School before graduating from Ouachita Parish High School in 1958. He worked for himself for most of his life, beginning as a licensed barber, then as a certified heavy equipment operator, and finally as owner/operator of Bingham Trucking in West Union, W.V.  He enjoyed many hours hunting small game, freshwater fishing and watching college sports, car races or old westerns.

A.M. is preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Lessie Bingham and his sister, Pauline Bingham Alexander.

He leaves behind with cherished memories his brother, Lawrence C. Bingham; sister, Florence B. Stapleton; nephew, Larry Alexander; nieces, Pamela B. Lancaster, Melanie A. Phifer, Carla B. Rollins, Valerie B. Clark, Amy Alexander; and his closest of friends, Lynn and Elaine Bennett.

Graveside services will be held April 9, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Spillers Cemetery in Downsville, LA with his cousin, Honorable Reggie Glen Skains officiating.  Services will be under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe, LA
