Center Point CEOS Meeting

February 21, 2022

Call to Order 6:00pm.  We stood for the Pledge of Allegiance

Meditation: Carol told us a joke to instigate laughter! (We need some lightheartedness right now)

There were no committee reports, but Carol informed those present that there is a CEOS “Book Club” via zoom on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 2pm.  If anyone is interested, she can give you the contact information, or you can read about it on the Doddridge County CEOS Facebook page which gives you the link.

Those present were given their Year books

A Plan of Action for the year was gone over and each member was asked to submit suggestions for projects they would like us to consider.

From the list on the Plan, it was decided to definitely plan the Fall Festival, and provide an inexpensive meal to sell (like hotdogs etc.).  It would at least pay for the cost of the pumpkins and other supplies needed, and maybe even make a small profit to add to our funds.

It was also decided that we would like to make the “Birthday Kits”, which include a cake mix, icing, candles and a disposable cake pan.  Carol will talk to the librarian to determine distribution to our local families.  It was decided to put together at least 5 of these, or perhaps 1 from each member, or 1 a month.  All 4 members present offered to put together a kit.  We are not using club funds, it is a donation from those members willing to make a kit.

Vera brought something that she felt could be used for the bazaar raffle.  Helen offered to take it home and decorate it for the raffle!  Also, Center Point club is on the committee for this years Bazaar along with Big Isaac and Bloomers.   That means we will work with them on Advertising and Registration.

The lesson this month was “The Importance of Nature to Our Health and Well-being”.  Sue Kittredge was to give this lesson, but had another commitment!  She sent a lovely letter that started with – “Dear Ladies, (and you are dear)”, along with a delicious cake and pepsi bottles for our refreshment.  Carol gave the lesson while we all stuffed our faces!  The cake plate was cleaned up!!!  She also told me that she wanted to read her favorite poem – Trees by: Joyce Kilmer, so I printed it out via the internet and read it for her.  Many thanks to  Sue.  We left the remaining lesson leaflets with the library to be taken by anyone interested.

Attendees: Carol Pippin, Kara Edwards, Helen Cain and Vera Carroll

Our next meeting will be on Monday March 21st at the Center Point Library at 6:00pm

The lesson will be “West Virginia Rhythm: Music in the Mountain State”

Our friends and neighbors are welcome to join us to learn what we are all about.

Call and ask if you have any questions about us and our organization (Carol Pippin (304)782-4754)

Newcomers are always welcome!
