Letters to the Editor

November 5, 2021 Currydale CEOS

The Currydale CEOS Club met for our monthly meeting on November 5, 2021 at the WVU Conference Meeting Room. Vice President, Sissy Johns called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m. Everyone stood reciting the Pledge to the Flag.

Meditations were presented by Dene Ryan. She read a letter entitled “Cheyenne” that brought tears to the eyes.

Roll call was answered by six people. Books read and Volunteer hours were also recorded.

The Minutes were passed out for all to view. Motion was made, seconded and approved to accept as read. The Treasurer’s Report was also passed out for approval. Motion was made, seconded and approved to accept as stated. The Flower Fund was collected.

Joyce Nicholson, our Health Motivator taught our lesson, “Feel Free to Spree with Omega-3.” Omega-3 oils are fatty acids that our bodies can’t make but are essential to our diets. Scientific studies have shown a correlation between eating omega-3s and preventing dementia, combating depression, supporting bone health, fighting inflammation, reducing rheumatoid arthritis and improving heart function. The American Heart Association recommends eating at least two servings of fish per week. Albacore tuna packed in water, salmon and canned sardines are loaded with omega-3s. Flax seed oil, chia seeds and walnuts, eggs, milk, yogurt and juice are good sources of omega-3s. Chuckle of the Month: A woman at the pharmacy was overheard saying, “Be careful picking up that box of omega-3 pills. You might get a super-fish oil injury.” Joyce always does a spectacular job, giving us lots of valuable information.

Since our Lesson Leader was absent, there was no lesson.

We spent an ample amount of time filling out the Club Committee Reports that were due November 30, 2021.

We decided to send a donation to the D.C. FRN who are seeking monies for a Scholarship Fund.

Since we missed the Fall Share-Thon for the WVGV Radio Station, we decided to send a donation to them for the purchase of needed equipment. The letter from the Salvation Army asking for a donation was tabled until next meeting.

We did not get to make our apple butter this year due to sickness.

Announcement was made about the upcoming Bazaar at the D.C. Park on November 6, 2021. We were to meet at the park on Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. to get our tables set up etc.

The Friendship Tray furnished by Sissy Johns was won by Ann Davis.

Our next meeting will be at the Fairview Diner special room on Dec. 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Please remember to bring an UNWRAPPED GIFT for our exchange.
