Floyd Smarr Jr.

Floyd Smarr Jr. 80, of West Union, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, with loving staff and daughter in law Misty at his bedside, residing at Genesis Salem Healthcare Center.

Junior was a passionate glass blower, timberman, but most importantly he was centered in his family.  He found his joy in life’s smallest and simplest treasures.  However, he found his greatest pride in his triplet grandchildren.  He could always spark a conversation about teaching his sons to be a jack of all trades, especially working on cars.

Junior was born to Floyd and Clara (Sinnett) Smarr in Pennsboro, WV on October 21, 1940.  Junior was raised in West Union and was married to Sarah (Lipscomb) Smarr for 58 years.  They got married on September 21, 1963.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sarah; children, Darin and Misty (King) Smarr and Gary and Cateena (McKinney) Smarr of West Union, WV; grandchildren, Drew (Natasha Cox); Isaac and Mista (Smarr) Britton of West Union; Darian (Ryan Mullan) of Grafton, WV; Junior had a special great nephew who he claimed as his own grandchild, Ryder Smarr of West Union, WV, along with Amanda and Skylar Smarr.  Junior also has two great grand children and one on the way from Isaac and Mista Britton; sisters, Opal Smith, Sharon Walker (Ronnie Burns), Juanita Burriss (Loran Smokey). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Licia Smarr; brothers, Jack (Nancy), Steve (Theresa) and Bradford “Bud” Smarr and one great grandchild.

In accordance with Junior’s wishes, he will be cremated and a private service will be held for immediate family only.  He will be laid to rest at the Piggott Cemetery.  McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements.
