Richard Dwayne Earl, 69, of Soddy-Daisy, TN, passed away Thursday evening, March 25, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 14, 1951, a son of the late John Wesley Earl and Virginia Ruth Earl and raised in Mannington WV.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Mary Balis Earl, whom he married on September 5, 1970.
Also surviving are his five children: Cynthia Gore of Chattanooga, TN; Valerie Ralston of Soddy Daisy, TN; Rich Earl of Virginia Beach, VA; Matthew Earl of Salem, WV; Joy Earl of Birmingham, AL; and 6 grandkids: Spencer, Micah, Connor, Chloe, Wesley and Kyla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Earl.
Richard worked for Harrison Power Station for 32 years as a coal operator and retired in Chattanooga, TN where he could be with his grandchildren and two oldest daughters. He enjoyed the outdoors and the winter months with Christmas being his favorite time of year. Richard trusted Christ as his savior and looked forward to spending eternity in Heaven with Him. Friends were received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m., and from 9 – 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, when services were held at 10 a.m., with his sons-in-law, Andy Gore and Jason Ralston presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
