Robert Leonidas Davis

   Robert Leonidas Davis, 89 of Morgantown departed this life on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Bolivia, N.C.  He was born on May 23, 1931 in West Union a son of the late Earl L. and Olive P. Williams Davis.  His wife Joyce Elaine Cole Davis preceded him in death.

   Surviving are one daughter, Mary Miller and husband Jeff, Morgantown, one son, Robert Davis, Smithfield, N.C., two granddaughters, Nicole D. Boggess and husband Leonard, Tiffany G. Guerra and husband Frank, three great grandchildren, Aaden J. Ware, Isabella G. Ware and Addisyn K. Guthrie.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Davis and Mary Hains.

   Mr. Davis was a graduate of Doddridge County High School.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Potomac State and Salem College.  He retired from Washington County Votech Center with 27 year’s service.  Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.  He was the author of three books entitled, “School Daze”, “Growing Up in Doddridge County” and West Union.  His other hobbies included gardening and woodworking. He was a Civil War historian. He was a beloved West Virginian. Mr. Davis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown.

   Graveside services will be conducted in the Masonic Memorial Park on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke presiding.  Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.spurgeonfunerals.com.  Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Davis family.
