Betty Jean Welch, 76 of George St. Industrial departed this life on Monday, July 20, 2020 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 14, 1943 at Jarvisville a daughter of the late Burley and Goldie Hughes Myers. She was
preceded in death by her husband Forest E. Welch on November 4, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Sonya Hayes (Dennis) West Union, Angelica Shock (Donnie) Industrial, grandchildren, Denny Hayes (Jessy) Amanda Frix (Benjamin) William Hayes (Vanessa), great grandchildren, Kyla, Emily, Axl, Christina, Remington, Madalynn, Tiffany and Lincoln “Little Red” Hayes, one sister, Jacquline McIntyre (Cecil), Industrial. several nieces and nephews. One sister, SylviaThornhill and two brothers, Buster and Burley K. Myers preceded her in death along with several sister and brother in laws.
Mrs. Welch had worked for Salem College as a custodian and Salem Personal Care Center in the laundry department and conducted chapel services. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be conducted in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at noon with Pastor Chuck Travis presiding. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.harbertfuneralhome.com. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Welch family.
