Darrell ” Linwood” Bailey Jr

75 of Salem departed this life on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 unexpectedly at his residence.  He was born on October 27, 1944 in Weston a son of the late Darrell L. Bailey Sr. and Loreda P. Reeder Bailey.

Surviving is one brother, William Doug Bailey and wife Tina, Salem two nephews, Andrew Bailey and wife Pegi, Clarksburg, Ethan Bailey, Morgantown, one great niece, Kasey Kesner, one aunt Gladys M. Burton and several cousins.

Linwood attended Salem High School and retired from Salem College as a mail carrier. His lifelong passion was the Salem Volunteer Fire Department where he served in various capacities for over 60 years.  Linwood was a member of the Salem Baptist Church.  He was quite the character and story teller who never knew a stranger. Linwood will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Carpenter presiding.  Interment will follow in Rock Grove Cemetery, Linn, WV.  The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 4-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Salem Volunteer Fire Dept.
