Scott Cochran Named New Doddridge County Schools Superintendent

The Doddridge County Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Scott Cochran as Superintendent
of Doddridge County Schools for a two-year contract at a special meeting Monday night. The board
interviewed three candidates at a meeting last Thursday.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Cochran to the board office,” said board president Denver Burnside,
“he has the experience, energy and commitment to continue the growth we have seen over the past
several years.”
Cochran is currently principal at Doddridge County High School where he is completing his second year.
Previously, he was Superintendent of Webster County schools for eight years and is a 1993 graduate of
Glenville State College, where he received his B.A. in Education. He is also a 2000 graduate of West
Virginia University where he received his Master’s in Education.
He is married to Shara Cochran, who is a graduate of Marshall University and is currently employed by
WVU Hospitals. They have two children, Raegan, who will graduate in April as a Family Nurse
Practitioner, and Noah, an O.R. Nurse for CAMC in Charleston.
Cochran said, “I wish to thank the Board for trusting me with the leadership of Doddridge County
Schools. I have some very big shoes to fill after the success Dr. Cheeseman has had over the past eight
years. I look forward to working with the Board of Education to foster student achievement, leadership
development for staff and open and honest communication with the Doddridge County community.”
Cochran will oversee a district of 1144 students and over 250 employees.
