Alvin Ross candidate for the Doddridge County Board of Education.

My name is Alvin Ross. I am currently a candidate for the Doddridge County Board of Education. I’d like to take a moment to reintroduce myself. I retired from Doddridge County Board of Education in 2015. I was born and raised in Doddridge County and attended Middle Island Grade school where I was a Golden Horseshoe recipient. I graduated from Doddridge County High School and went on to attend Fairmont State University, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree. A couple of decades passed and I continued my education with a Master Degree from Marshall University and a Principal/ Superintendent certification from Salem International University.
During my time working, I worked for state corrections for 22 years as the former superintendent of the West Virginia Industrial Home for Youth. Next, I earned the position of Assistant principal at Braxton County High School and later Career and Technical Education Director in the county. I returned home to Doddridge County in 2007 as principal at Doddridge County Middle School. I advanced as Director of Support Services and finished my career as Doddridge County General Director, acting in the capacity as assistant superintendent of schools. I have a very broad based work knowledge because of the experiences leading to a distinguished career.
I am the father of two, both of which work in the state educational department. One is a teacher and the other a school nurse. I am the grandfather of six. I have genuine educational experience, which would be an asset for the Doddridge County school system. My philosophical beliefs are founded on common sense and hard work. Ultimately, I can add a new dimension to the Board of Education if elected. I wish to improve the local educational system by enhancing safety, academic rigor, strategic planning development, accountability, and financial responsibility.
I believe Doddridge County is on the forefront of numerous educational opportunities with some enhancements and focus. Actions speak much louder than words and I think if you review my career and life, you will see how actively it has been geared towards advancing opportunities for the Doddridge County community. I would love the opportunity to speak with each of you and can be contacted at 304-904-3350. Please take this opportunity and cast your vote for Alvin Ross for Doddridge County Board of Education.
