In H.G. Wells classic science fiction story the flowering of the strange orchard it dealt with a flower with vampire like qualities like the undead. The flower was largely a psychic vampire that fed on the person’s life force. I have also heard of solitary graves that lack in grass growth suggesting an evil presence there. Such a place was often avoided as such a place where the earth itself might be just such a hungry vampire that might drain away the life of an innocent mortal. These bewitched burial sites were often the final resting place of a witch or some social pariahs. A similar grave is mentioned in Hawthorne’s Scarlet Letter. I found this especially interesting.
