Melvin Lyle Williams

Melvin Lyle Williams, 84, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2024 at Manchin Assisted Living in Bridgeport.

He was born December 31, 1939 in Salem, son of the late Dennis Rex and Monnie Belle Rollins Williams.

Melvin was a 1957 graduate of Doddridge County High School and went on to graduate from WV Business College.  He served in the United States Army National Guards from 1964-1969. He retired with 30 plus years with AT&T as a communication tech. Melvin was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He loved working outdoors and his passion was deer and animals.

Melvin is survived by his sister, Juanita Lou Lough, Salem; niece, Denise Linton, Manassas, VA; nephew, Robert (Melanie) Lough, Navarre Beach, FL; great nephews,  Paul Linton, Jonathan (Kayleigh) Lough, Jared (Emily) Lough, Chase Gibson; great nieces, Jeanie Linton, Courtney (Logan) Kniceley; five great great nieces and nephews, Carter, Elisha, Aurora, Paisley, Piper; cousins and caregivers, Roland and Tammy Kniceley; and longtime caregivers, John and Joann Golden.  

In addition to his parents, Melvin is preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Elliott Williams on July 14, 2011; brother-in-law, Roy “Bob” Lough; and nephew, William Paul Linton II.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dominque Woofter and Dr Benjamin Raymond for the many years of compassionate medical attention, special appreciation to UHC 4th/6th floor North and ER Drs, Nurses staff for their professional care given to him. Also acknowledge gratefulness to the Manchin Assisted Living Family for all the love and excellent care along with WVU Medicine Hospice in the final stages of his life.

Family and friends will meet at Davis Funeral Home in Salem on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 4-7PM and on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00PM with services being conducted by Pastor Bill Mumbauer, Rev Kurt Busiek, Rev Todd Syruws, and Rev Trevor Pullen. Interment will follow at K of P Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Doddridge County Humane Society, 1286 Wiseman Run Road Salem WV 26426.
