Elaine Marie Carder
Elaine Marie Carder, 92, of Salem passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Bridgeport. She was born on April 13, 1931 in Clarksburg a daughter of the late Clarence Stewart and Nina Opal Layfield Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Donald Eugene Carder who passed away on July 2, 1980. They were united in marriage on October 9, 1954.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Carder and wife Mary Jo of Salem and Donald “Donnie” Carder also of Salem; one daughter, Shari Carder of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Kayla Gay and husband Kyle of Salem and Ethan Carder and wife Olivia of Salem, and Kameron Carder of Clarksburg; three great grandchildren, Avery Gay, Landon Gay and Riley Jo Carder.
In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two brothers Eugene and Denzil Stewart.
Elaine was a 1949 graduate of Victory High School. She was employed as a secretary for Mutual Fire Insurance and then later was a Co-Owner of Town and Country True Value Hardware. She enjoyed babysitting, and cooking. She will be remembered as a caring and compassionate lady who enjoyed doing things in her community and socializing with her friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Harrison County.
The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home-Salem, 1999 W Main Street, Salem, WV on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 9:00 am- until the time of the service at 11:00 am, with Reverend Elizabeth Jarrett presiding.
