Betty Lucille Bode, 91, of Clarksburg went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at her residence with family by her side. She was born June 16, 1932 in Industrial, Doddridge County, daughter of the late Hiram and Bessie Pearl Johnston Maylee. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Berlin Francis Bode on March 12, 2022.
Betty graduated from Bristol High School, Class of 1951. She worked as the
Deputy Assessor, Roane County. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church in Salem and the Wetzel Chapter #27, Order of the Eastern Star. She would pray daily and her love was her family, especially her granddaughters.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Patricia L. Griffith (Tim), Salem; one son, Timothy B. Bode, Clarksburg; three granddaughters, Amy Johnson (Chris), Salem, Allison Escolopio (Tim), Charlotte, NC, Abigail Griffith, Salem; one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by one sister, Lavonne Burge; three brothers, Vance Maylee, Robert Maylee, and Glen Maylee.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 12:00 Noon until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Larry McKim officiating. Interment will follow at K of P Cemetery.
