Naomi “Jean” Zinn Powell
Naomi “Jean” Zinn Powell, 88 of West Union passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Salem Center. She was born November 8, 1934, in Salem, WV, daughter of the late Chester B and Leona Callihan Zinn.
Naomi graduated from Salem High School, 1952. She was a Clerk and Office Manager at the Salem Industrial Home for the Youth. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, cooking, and gardening. She was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church.
Jean is survived by two sons, Jeff Powell and Kimberly, West Union, Jason Powell, Salem; daughter-in-law, Paula Powell, West Union; six grandchildren, Joshua Powell and Chasity, Angela Nicholson and Wayne, Heather Spurlock and Billy, Brittany Underwood and John, Michelle Powell, and Cameron Powell; seven great grandchildren, Silas, Chelsea, Alexis, Jaydon, Jayce, Amelia, and Caroline; three siblings, William “Fred” Zinn, Berlin “Bud” Zinn and Ann, and Roger Dale Zinn all of Salem; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean, was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Blaine Powell on June 8, 2004; one son, Jay David Powell on March 28, 2021; one sister, Wilma Lee “Billie” Hill.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, Salem on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 1:00PM until the time of Naomi’s Celebration of Life Service at 4:00PM with Thurman Cox officiating. Private Inurnment will be at Keys Cemetery.
