Betty Jo Hart

Betty Jo Hart, 72, of West Union, WV, departed this life Sunday, June 25, 2023 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.

She was born October 10, 1950, in Arnold Creek, WV, a daughter of the late Kermit Wayne and Lushie “Toots” Almeda (Leggett) Owens.

Betty was a longtime member of Ruley Chapel Church, where she was also the secretary and treasurer. She worked as a private home caregiver for many years. She enjoyed church, camping, going to the beach with Ki-Ki, going to yard sales, playing on her computer, and working on her flower beds. She was a huge fan of George Jones, and also the Tyler County Races. But most of all Betty loved spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren, and special granddaughter, Ki-Ki.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alvin Hart of West Union, WV; children, Kevin Britton (Beatrice) of Cabin Run, WV, Dewayne Britton (Michelle) of Clarksburg, WV, Mark Britton of Salem, WV, and Angela Davis (Greg) of Smithburg, WV; 3 stepchildren; grandchildren, special granddaughter, Mikyla “Ki-Ki”, Haley Leggett, Garrett Davis, Cierra Britton, Kandice Britton, Natasha Britton  Casper Higgins, Natoshia Britton, Devinn Britton, Tyler McKinney, Dakota Britton, Payton Britton, Mark Britton Jr., Zack Britton, Luke, Britton, David “Spider” Hart, and Alicia Howell; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Jim Owens, Robin Owens, Butch Owens, Linda Summers, and Nancy Moore; son-in-law, Jeffrey McKinney; several loving nieces and nephews; and special niece and caregiver, Missy Helmick.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Loretta McKinney, grandchildren, Heidi Paige Davis and Mikahyla Gracie Davis, and brother Denny Owens.

A service will be held at 1pm, Friday, June 30, 2023 at McCullough Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV with Pastor Roger Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Big Flint in Doddridge County, WV. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10am-1pm at the funeral home.
