Up-Date on DC Senior Citizens Center

As most are aware the DC Senior Citizens Center was inundated by a mud flow on August 10, 2022 causing massive damage to the building and the contents in the basement.

On Friday, August 12 , Mr. Travis reported that they were waiting on the insurances, to come and evaluate the damage, which he thought would be sometime this week.

He was asked if a Go Funding or other Funding site on the internet could be used to raise funds and has asked for those who mentioned this source of funding to wait until after the insurance evaluation was received.

So far, they have access to the kitchen and have blocked the big dining room off, using the smaller section for those who eat their lunch at the Center.

They dried the basement out (just to have it to leak again over the past week of rain  and are moving  forward with clean up to prevent mold from spreading and making the problems worse by hiring a dumpster and removed the ruined baseboards, carpeting and other items.

The  insurance companies have done  their evaluations, and have been advised there will be a 2 to 3 week waiting time concerning the results of the inspection..
