DC Alumni Awards 1st Scholarship

The Doddridge County Hight School (DCHS) Alumni Association is excited to announce a new scholarship recently created with the Doddridge County Community Foundation (DCCF). “The Alumni Association is excited to help all graduates be successful in their futures,” said Merlene Kelley, DCHS Alumni Association President.

“Doddridge County residents show an incredible amount of support for their students and a strong understanding of the value of education in helping to raise the quality of life in a community,” said Julie Posey, DCCF’s Development and Communications Officer. “It’s obvious that Doddridge County alumni care about their alma mater and want future generation to succeed” The scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors at DCHS who plan to attend a college, university, trade/technical school, or certification program. Recipients must have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 2.0. Recipients of this scholarship shall be selected based on character, ability to overcome obstacles, academic promise, and community involvement.

The first $1,000 scholarship was awarded this spring to Tessa Sleeth of Salem, who plans to attend WV Wesleyan College this fall where she has been accepted into the “Go D.O.” Early Scholars Program.

“I’m humbled and honored to receive this scholarship. Upon graduation at WV Wesleyan College, I plan to attend the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine, in hopes to one day practice medicine. With your support, this dream of mine has become more achievable.” – – Tessa Sleeth
