Boys Scouts To Hold Spring

Camporee at DC Park

Mountaineer Area Council Boy Scouts of America (MAC) will be holding its Spring Camporee at the Doddridge County Park April 29th – May 1st. The Camporee bring scouts together from across North Central West Virginia to learn, practice and challenge their outdoor skills.

This year’s theme, “Baden’s Basics” will feature a variety of scouting skills promoted by Lord Baden Powell, author of the first editions of the seminal work Scouting for Boys which was an inspiration for the Scouting Movement.  Planned activities for the event include: Dakota Cooking, Flint and Steel Fire Building, Rope Making, Orienteering and much more.

MAC wants to bring scouting to the youth of Doddridge County and has opened this event free of charge to Doddridge County Youth ages 11 -17 on Saturday, April 30th.

Grab your water bottle and pack your lunch and come join the fun!!   Spend the day with scouts from around the region as they take a step back in time and learn some of Baden’s Basic scouting skills.

Morning registration begins April 30th at 8:00a-8:45a at the Camp Store.  Youth are invited to participate from 9:00a – 4:00p as they work through the varies stations and activities.

All youth must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the time at the camporee. For more information on this event or to learn more about scouting in this area; please contact Alex Stout at 304.366.3940 or www.beascout.org.
