Sauder (later a 3 term GA state representative) was born; Salisbury, MD (1956-1958) where daughter, Jeanne (1957-1958), was born and later died; Hagerstown, MD (1958-1963) where in 1960, daughter Janice, was born and where Dorothy earned her high school GED.  During that period Dorothy worked at a nursing home for $1 an hour and saved $1000 to buy a piano so her children could learn to play; Simpsonville, MD (1963-1965) with Harvey serving as Chesapeake Conference Evangelist; Anchorage, AK (1965-1969) with Harvey as Youth Director of the Alaska Mission and pastor of the Anchorage district.   During that time Dorothy worked at J.C. Penney’s; Loma Linda, CA (1969-1973) as Associate Trust Director of Loma Linda University where Dorothy worked in the University accounting department; Trust Services Director of the Trans-Africa-Division in Salisbury, Rhodesia, Africa (1973-1978) where Dorothy worked as a secretary and once held a baby lion: Trust Services Director for the Upper Columbia Conference (1978-1980) in Spokane, WA; Trust Services Director for the Columbia Union (1980-1988) in Columbia, MD.   In 1988 Harvey and Dorothy retired to Calhoun, GA where they could enjoy grandchildren and caring for their place.  Harvey enjoyed woodworking and Dorothy oil painting, cross-stitch, knitting and quilting.   They joined the Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist church.  For several years she donated time weekly to a local food bank at her church to feed the poor.  Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents, Vera Lee and Ray Ford; husband, Harvey Sauder; a half-sister, Ramona Ford Eddy Watson, two half brothers, Calvin Ray Ford and William Harold Ford; a daughter, Jeanne Sauder; and son-in-law, Mark Lawson.  When her mother died, Vera’s husband, Nelson Lee (Dorothy’s stepfather), came to live with Harvey and Dorothy and they cared for him until his death.  Dorothy is survived by: three daughters, Barbara Lawson of Calhoun, GA; Jeralyn Beardsley (husband Fred) of Gobles, MI; Janice Miller (husband Greg) of Calhoun, GA; and son, Randy Sauder of Calhoun, GA.  Also, surviving her are ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.  Dorothy loved her family supremely and sacrificed to earn money so that all her children got a minimum college degree.  Dorothy was raised to be an outstanding cook, seamstress, quilter, knitter and homemaker.  When her children were young she made all of their clothes.  In later life she was a member of the Calhoun Scrappy Quilters, won quilting awards and knitted well over 5,000 baby hats, which she donated free, to the Gordon Hospital for newborns.  In 2016 the hospital placed a wall plaque in the baby ward to recognize her contributions.  Funeral services will be private with family only.  She will be cremated and buried at the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, OH beside her husband and daughter, Jeanne.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the GA-Cumberland Academy, Calhoun, GA.
