2022-2023 REGISTRATION FOR DODDRIDGE COUNTY

UNIVERSAL PRESCHOOL/ 

KINDERGARTEN

Registration for Doddridge County Schools’ Universal Preschool/Kindergarten for 2022-2023 school term will be held Friday, March 25, 2022, and Friday, April 8, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Doddridge County Preschool Center located at Smithburg. Please call Happy Plaugher at the Doddridge County Preschool Center at 873-3955 to schedule a registration appointment for your child. Each registration appointment should take approximately 60 – 90 minutes. STUDENTS MUST BE PRESENT ON THE DAY OF THEIR REGISTRATION APPOINMENT. Only children entering school for the first time will need to make an appointment for registration. Any child who is currently enrolled in Kindergarten or the Universal Preschool Program during the 2021-2022 school year will not need to schedule a registration appointment.

The Scheduled dates and time for the registration are as follows:

Friday – March 25, 2022.  Time: 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.   Location: Doddridge County Preschool Center at Smithburg.

Friday – April 8, 2022. Time: 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Location:  Doddridge County Preschool Center at Smithburg

State Law stipulate that Kindergarten is mandatory and that a child must be five (5) years of age prior to July 1 of the year he or she enters Kindergarten. To register for Kindergarten, the State of WV requires that children have the following immunizations prior to entering school: tuberculin skin test (or low risk survey) a minimum of (4) DPT and (3) polio were required providing the last does was given after the child’s fourth birthday and (2) measles mumps and Rubella with one after the child’s first birthday, (4) PCV (Prevnar-pneumonia). A TB tine test (or low risk survey) should be completed four months prior to the fall school term. No child will be permitted to attend school in September until immunizations have been completed.

To register for Doddridge County Schools’ Universal Preschool Program, a child must be four (4) years of age prior to July 1 of the year he or she enters Preschool. Due to the change in State Policy 2525, every Preschool child is now required to have a health assessment (physical) completed and signed by a licensed health care provide before any child can attend school. Immunizations for Preschool must include Hepatitis B (3) doses, Varicella (chickenpox) (2) doses, Hepatitis A (2) doses, DTaP (4) doses, Pollo (3) doses, and Hib (4) doses. All families are asked to bring household proof of income to determine potential eligibility for Head Start eligibility components. Heath assessment forms and a copy of immunizations must be turned in to the school before your child will be assigned to a classroom to attend school. You will be required to complete your registration packet during your child’s scheduled appointment. Staff will be available to assist you in completing the registration packet.

 Students will not be considered registered until the completed registration packet has been returned to the Doddridge County Preschool Center.

The following documents will be required for you to bring with you to your child’s scheduled registration appointment.  Your child’s: 1) Completed WV Department of Health Certificate of Immunizations Record; 2) Social Security Card; 3) Certified Birth Certificate. A certified birth certificated is one from the State Bureau of Vital Statistics. Copies from a hospital or county courthouse are not accepted. Public schools are required to keep the certified birth certificate on file for every student enrolled in the education system. Applications to obtain certified birth certificates are provided in each registration packets and are available by calling the Doddridge County Preschool Center at 873-3955. If you do not have a certified birth certificate for your child, you should complete an application as soon as possible. 4) WV Preventive Health Screening – physical, 5) Dental- Oral Health Assessment, and for Head Start eligibility you will also need 6) HGB- hemoglobin and lead screening and 7) Proof of income, which may include any of the following: Social Security Statement, W2’s, or one month check stubs with year to date or statement from DHHR.

Call the Doddridge County Preschool Center at 873-3955 before Thursday March 24, 2022, to schedule an appointment if you want your child to attend any of the following programs for the 2022-2023 school term:

Kindergarten:  All children who are 5 years old before July 1, 2022, are eligible to attend.

Preschool: All children who are 4 years old before July 1, 2022, or 3-year-olds with developmental delays are eligible to attend.

Head Start: All children who are 4 years old before July 1, 2022, may be eligible to attend
