ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY 

FOR

MAGISTRATE

Brenda Underwood is the daughter of “Pig” and Jene Underwood of Center Point. Brenda is a 1989 graduate of Doddridge County High School and a 1993 graduate of Berea College, Berea, KY with Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

Brenda is the mother of two, Emily and Ella, who attend Doddridge County High and Middle Schools. She is a member of Welcome Baptist Church. Brenda is active in the community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Doddridge County Library and has served on the Board of Directors for Doddridge County Youth Softball League and Hope, Inc. for a number of years. Brenda also is volunteer with the

County 4-H program through the WV Extension Service.

Brenda has extensive legal experience. Upon college graduation from Berea College, Brenda worked at Buttermore, Turner and Boggs, PLLC in Harlan, KY for two years. While working with Johnnie Turner, Brenda worked in workers’ compensation, civil litigation as well as Turner’s criminal law practice. She returned to Doddridge County in 1995. She became employed by Steptoe & Johnson PLLC in December 1995 where she is currently employed. Brenda has over 28 years experience as trial paralegal in civil and criminal cases. At Steptoe & Johnson she has worked primarily in civil litigation, labor and employment law and criminal law. Brenda is proficient in courtroom technology and decorum.

Brenda’s education and experience make her uniquely qualified to serve the citizens of Doddridge County as Magistrate. Please consider these qualifications and experience when casting your vote for the next Magistrate of Doddridge County.
