Kick off the holiday season by entering our FIRST Gingerbread House Decorating Contest! We will provide everything you need to create your gingerbread masterpiece and all YOU need to provide is the creativity. Our goal is to have 20 teams of up to three members per team. To allow for social distancing, we will divide those 20 teams into 2 groups (Group A and Group B). Groups will have 1 hour to complete their gingerbread houses. Group A will meet from 10AM-11AM and Group B will meet from 11:30AM-12:30PM. All entries will remain on display here at the library through Monday, December 13th. We will also post a photo of each entry to our Facebook page. During this time, anyone can come in to vote for his or her favorite gingerbread house or make the choice on our Facebook post. At noon on that Monday, we will count all in person and virtual votes to determine our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners! All winners will receive gift certificates to The Meadowbrook Mall: 1st place $50, 2nd place $25 and 3rd place $10. All winners will be announced to our Facebook page after the votes are tallied. We will also call each of our lucky winners.
This will all take place during our Christmas Open House. Santa will be here from 11:30AM-1PM for a meet and greet! We will also provide festive snacks and fun Christmas themed crafts for the kids. The Gingerbread House Decorating Contest DOES require registration, so please call the library at (304) 873-1941 to sign up for this event, but the Open House will be available to all without registration.
