4-H, FFA & Lions Club Come Together to Make West Union Shine

What a collaboration!! Have you noticed the improvements over the last year on Main Street in West Union?? The Doddridge County 4-H Teen Leaders, sponsored by a grant from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, partnered up with Doddridge FFA and the Doddridge County Lions Club to “Make West Union Shine”. On Thursday, May 20th, these groups met on Main Street and got to work!!

A series of banners, changed out periodically, are gracing the streetlights featuring highlights of our county…. including the heritage of Ephraim Bee, our Veterans and their military branches, as well as 4-H, FFA and the Bulldogs! Landscaping has been cleaned and updated, freshly mulched and planted with flowers and vegetable plants provided by the Doddridge FFA Greenhouse. We’re proud to display the hard work of Mr. Rabel and his FFA members and appreciate them joining our efforts.

Many hours of manpower have been put forth over the last year to clean and sweep the streets, pull weeds, prune plants and keep them hydrated and growing. Several volunteers from all 3 groups have worked together to create such a beautiful streetscape. The Extension Office even rewarded them with some ice cream from Noll’s Hardware for all of their hard work. We can’t wait to see what they do next!

The 4-H Teen Leaders and Doddridge FFA members are working on even more ideas to continue this project and “Make West Union Shine” even more!
