William Gerald Fleming

   William Gerald Fleming, 94, of Cherry Camp Rd. Salem departed this life on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in  J.W.  Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.  He was born on December 1, 1926 at Arnolds Creek near West Union a son of the late Samuel G. and Lina A. Richards Fleming.  His wife of 73 year’s Geraldine L. Brannon Fleming survives.

   Also surviving is three sons, Reverend Danny G. Fleming (Joyce), Salem, Terry L. Fleming (Nanette) Salem, Steven L. Fleming, Fairmont, grandchildren, Annetta Payne, Melissa Teter, Alesha Bell, Jenny Fleming, Misty Samples and Julie McQueen, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Gerald was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Darlene Fleming Robertson and one grandson, Douglas Fleming, and 4 brothers and six sisters.  He was the last surviving member of his immediately family. 

   Gerald worked most of his career for Penzoil Oil Company in various positions and retired as  Gas Measurement Superintendent with a total of 37 year’s service.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII aboard the USS Elokomin (AO-55).  His position on the ship was communications officer. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing and sporting events with family and friends.  

   Mr. Fleming was cremated and a memorial graveside service will be conducted in the Masonic Memorial Park, Rt. 18 N. near Crystal Lake at the convenience of the family.
