WVU Extension Service – Doddridge County Announcements, Week of March 3, 2021

New Club in Town
   There is a new 4-H Club forming in West Union. The West Union Daredevils will hold their first meeting on March 10, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Extension Office. This club is open to Cloverbuds ages 6 – 8 and 4-H members ages 9 – 17. If you have any questions, please contact Zona Hutson, Extension Agent, at (304) 873-1801.

Newsletter Correction 
   You should have received your March 2021 County Newsletter in the mail or via email. There is one small correction. Under the Camping Weekend at Jackson’s Mill, the dates should be listed as April 9-11, 2021. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Return to In-Person Meetings
   Groups and clubs may return to in-person events in groups of 10 or smaller beginning March 1, 2021. Larger groups, up to 25 people, may meet with prior approval from Zona Hutson, Extension Agent. Please call Zona with any questions at (304) 873-1801.

STEM Festival
   The Mineral County STEM festival will be held Saturday, March 13th, 2021. The event will cover topics on Astronomy, Chemistry, Engineering, Fossils, Wild Life and Natural Sciences. State 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest
   The topic for this 750-1000 word essay is Immunity-Threats to Bee Colonies and Methods to Defend Against the Threats. It is open to any active 4-H members between the ages of 8-18. Submissions are due by March 31, 2021.
   You do not have to be a beekeeper to enter! Pre-submission support providing resources to information on this topic and access to local beekeepers to interview will be made available upon request. Please contact Sarah Owen [email protected]
