New for 2021 at the Doddridge County Park

The Park is moving forward with planning for 2021 in spite of the COVID pandemic.  If continued infection rates prevent the final execution of the planning for events they will be canceled and we will communicate to everyone as soon as we know.

Mountain State Scottish & Celtic Gathering– May 29th – Planning for the first Scottish & Celtic Gathering is ongoing with a scheduled date of May 29th for the event.  Current planning includes music, animals, Scottish Games Competition, food vendors and fun activities like the ax throwing, Bonnie Knees contest, and Kilted Mile Run.   Watch for information and schedules as they are finalized.

If you would like to volunteer please contact John at 304-873-2267.

New Yurt Constructed / Improvement for Others– The Park built a third Yurt for campers use over the winter.  It offers sleeping for 6 – 8 individuals, water, electric, fire ring and a great deck for your use.  Additionally, the staff installed step from the shower house to Yurt #2 to greatly improve access.  Make your reservation now for this Summers holidays, county fair, 4-H Livestock Show or just a quite weekend away.

Friends of Doddridge County Parks– The Doddridge County Park system will be creating a Friends group during 2021.  This group will set its own goals and activities they agree on that support the Park and mesh with the goals the Park Commissioners establish.  Those could be park beautification projects, volunteering at events, creating and leading an event, or fundraising for a project.  One significant effort could be helping with planning events for the 50th anniversary of the Park in 2022.  There are many opportunities to help the Park and if you are interested in joining the Friends group please contact Greg or John at 304-873-1663.
