Good Shepherd Tree

Coordinated by the DC Family Resource Network

The 2020 Good Shepherd Tree Program was a blessing to many community members in countless ways.  This project began with generosity from lamb sponsors.  Churches, groups and individuals shopped for 168 local children’s needs and wishes this year.  Children from 73 Doddridge County families will be very excited this Christmas morning.  On distribution day, parents and guardians expressed their gratitude for receiving these Christmas gifts.  As a bonus again this year, Good Shepherd Tree children in need also received brand new bedding and pillows made possible by a 2019 grant from the Parkersburg/Doddridge Area Community Foundation.  Certainly, a blessing for each to have a warm and cozy holiday season.  Four family prizes were given away thanks to the DCFRN’s World Vision membership, sponsored by the DC Commission.  A generous donation of toys and 5 bikes from North Central West Virginia’s Home Builders Association was also part of distribution day.  The DCFRN received $1,375 from supporters to help fund this program.  We were also surprised with a generous donation from EQT Corporation in the amount of $2,500.  In celebration of Giving Tuesday (December 1) EQT was happy to donate funds to enhance our program, families and community.  These funds are used to support this program’s needs and go directly to the children.  A special 6-year-old boy, Kingston Roberts, reached out to us this holiday season with a donation of new and gently used toys and items for us to distribute to our families as well. With continued support, the DCFRN is pleased to coordinate this event and thank all involved.
