47th SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS IN THE MOUNTAINS AT FORT NEW SALEM GOES VIRTUAL

(Salem, WV ) For the past 46 years, our community has gathered welcoming friends, new and old alike, to our nationally recognized  Spirit of Christmas in the Mountains.  Fort New Salem, like all of us, has been impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. In fact, we have not hosted any public activities on our campus in 2020.  However, we are pleased to announce that our 47th edition will occur in a virtual format!

A select group of our interpretive volunteers, wearing appropriate mask and maintaining social distancing will gather to participate in our traditional GRAND PROCESSIONAL & TREE LIGHTING.  We will have our traditional candle decorated tree and our walkways adorned with luminaries. Music will be played via our sound system in place of live caroling choirs to provide appropriate background music.

This one-day event is CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC but will be LIVE STREAMED on Facebook.  It will also play via YouTube post event. For the safety of our participants will not have any individuals on the grounds who are not directly involved in the event. It will occur at 5 pm  on Saturday December 12th .

The cabins of Fort New Salem have seen a pandemic or two and we felt this Christmas Season everyone could use a little cheer and the uplifting of their spirits with our SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS IN THE MOUNTAINS.
