After a 3 week lay off Doddridge took the field against AA Herbert Hoover Huskies. This was also black out night. Honoring all the people we have lost throughout the year. Doddridge received the opening kickoff.
The Bulldogs marched down the field with #24 Reese Burnside scoring on a nine yard run with 3 minutes to go in the first. With #46 D.J Devinney making the extra point Doddridge 7- Herbert Hoover 0. That was all the scoring in the First Quarter. At the 7 minute mark in the 2nd the huskies scored on a 35 Rushing TD. The extra point was good making the score 7-7. With two minutes left in the half the huskies scored on a 3 yard rushing play. After the extra point, it was Huskies 14 -Bulldogs 7. Half-time the score was Herbert Hoover 14 Bulldogs 7.
The Huskies received the ball to start the third quarter. The bulldogs defense stopped the huskies. After the Huskies recovered a muffed punt by the Bulldogs on the Doddridge 30 yard line. They scored on a 4 yard rushing TD with 7:12 left in the 3rd. Extra point was good making the score 21-7 Huskies With 30 seconds left in the third #5 Jarred Jones scored on a two yard quarterback keeper. The extra point was good making the score 21-14. Huskies at the end of the 3rd. At the beginning of the fourth quarter. The huskies runner fumbles the ball into the end zone Doddridge Recovered for a touch back. The tree officials nearest the play called it a fumble and a touchback. One official from several yards away overturned the call and returned the ball to the Huskies( Even the T.V Sports reporters said it was a fumble) The huskies Proceeded to score on a two yard rushing play with the successful extra point. The score was 28-14 Huskies with 10:31 left in the fourth. With 1:06 left in the game the huskies kicked a 22 yard field goal making the final score 31-14 Herbert Hoover. This was the Bulldogs first regular season loss since 2017. Doddridge plays Tygerts Valley Nov 6 7:00pm at home.
