 One Halloween Custom is sure to send chills down one’s spine is the one concerning bloody Mary. On Halloween night at Midnight, one could go into a  darkened bathroom and gaze into a mirror and say “ Bloody Mary three times. According to legend this invocation will conjure up an image of Mary. Sometimes Mary is a ghastly vision where she cries tears of blood, some say her eyes are gouged out. Some say that her image is so scare that it might drive someone insane. Other versions have her reaching out of the mirror and pulling the victim inside which is possibly hell. Sometimes she scratches her victims as she reaches through the mirror. In less violent the image in the mirror is the viewer’s future spouse. This more romantic version lacks the spooky Halloween elements and was done at slumber parties most often. Both consist of gazing in the mirror at midnight usually accompanied with a candlelight. The common belief hold that apparition was Mary Tudor the 16th century Queen of England. Mary Tudor was often referred to a bloody Mary. She was responsible for the murder of at least 300 people which is where she got the title Bloody Mary. Soon, after her death her ghost was seen in mirrors at midnight. Some say that her frequent miscarriages made her angry from leaving no heir of her town. Thus, her restless spirit still haunts. And so, it goes.
