Doddridge vs Ritchie

 These players have played with and against each other since youth football. Both teams are very familiar with each other… The game started at 7:00 pm at Ritchie’s homefield, the Bulldog’s received the opening kickoff. The teams battled between the 20’s for the first quarter without scoring. The first scoring opportunity came with 10:21 remaining in the 2nd it was an attempted 29-yard field goal by #46 Devinney.    The kick sailed wide left. The battle continued until Ritchie recovered a muffed punt on the Dogs 26-yard line. Ritchie advanced the ball to the dogs 5 yd line. With 3rd and goal on the 5. Ritchie was hit with an intentional grounding penalty. Which is a 15-yards from the spot of the foul and loss of a down. After an incomplete pass on 4th an goal on the Dogs 23 yard-line, Doddridge took over on downs with 5:04 left in the half. With 30 seconds left in the half #5 Jones hit #10 Jenkins on a 70-yard pass and run to make the score 6-0 Doddridge #46 Devinney attempts the extra point which was blocked. Making the half time score 6-0 Doddridge. Ritchie received the ball to start the 2nd half. The score remained the same until midway through the 3rd when Ritchie scored on a 42-yard pass play. After a successful 2-point conversion the Rebels led 8-6, that was all the scoring until one-minute left in the game when #46 Devinney was called on for a 15-yard field goal attempt. The kick was good making the score Doddridge 9 Ritchie 8. Ritchie received the kickoff with less than a minute to go, with no timeouts and unable to move the ball the game ended with the final score being Doddridge 9 Richie 8. This was an extremely hard-fought game by two well coached, talented and disciplined teams. Doddridge takes their 4-0 recorded and number one ranking to Wirt County Friday October 2nd at 7:00
