Denise E. Pernell “Nanny”
Denise E. Pernell “Nanny”, 63, of West Union, WV departed this life peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with glioblastoma.
Denise was born June 11, 1959 in Baltimore, MD. She spent her life as a loving and caring homemaker for her family. She worked for the former Jabo Marbles of Reno, OH and she also greatly enjoyed helping her daughter with the former J&J Flowers of West Union, WV for many years. Denise loved to assist in the flower shop as well as make flower deliveries. She was a member of Real Life Ministries of Greenwood, WV and the West Union VFW Ladies Aux #3408. She also volunteered with the West Union Fire Dept Ladies Aux as well as volunteered for the youth sports program of Doddridge County for many years.
Denise’s greatest love and joy was being “Nanny” for her grandchildren. Her whole life revolved around them. She enjoyed watching her crime shows, listening to her scanner, and singing Gospel music.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Cass (Shaun) of the Crystal Lake community of Doddridge County; Patty Scott (AJ) of West Union, WV, and Ashley Robinson (Patrick) of West Union, WV; her grandchildren, Seth Cass, Braden Cass, Hartley Cass, and River Robinson, her close friends, Daphne Cox of West Union, WV, and Kerri Lipscomb of Smithburg, WV, along with her dog, Zoey.
Denise was preceded in death by her husband, Ovid Lee Pernell and her daughter, Dawn Faulkner.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Friday, June 2, 2023, at the McCullough Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV with Danny Lipscomb and Jimmy Lipscomb officiating. Burial will follow in the West Union Masonic Memorial Park. Visitation will take place 5pm-8pm on Thursday and from 11am-1pm on Friday, at the funeral home.
