When people  were looking for a possible cornerstone at the Old DCHS,  a relic from the past turned up. 

This stone is a USGS Survey stone, a permanent marker placed at the Old DCHS by the US Geological Survey many years ago and used for land surveying purposes. 

These stones are placed all over the United States and bears a permanent coordinates for future use. 

David King, CoW of the DC Courthouse projects indicated that the USGS has been notified concerning the stone and it;s possible removal. 

To date, a cornerstone at the Old DCHS has not been located.
