Chad L Richards

Chad L Richards, 38 of Salem, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 at his residence.  He was born September 14, 1984 in Clarksburg, WV the son of Darrell R. “Fuzzy” and Frances Christine Cummings Richards of Salem. Chad graduated from Doddridge County High School, Class of 2003. He served his country in the United States Army serving in Iraq. Chad was a certified Mason, CDL Truck Driver and a Heavy Equipment Operator.  He loved fishing, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and spending time with his family and children. In addition to his parents, Chad is survived by two children, Alexander Lloyd Richards and Lindsay Ann Richards; two nephews and a niece, Trenten Scott, Ayden Kohl, and Trinity Elizabeth Richards all of Salem; like a sister, Tonya Terry and her daughter; his dog June Bug; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Chad is preceded in death by his brother, Earl Scott “Scottie” Richards, paternal grandparents, Earl and Jean Jarvis Richards; and maternal grandparents, Virgil and Bonnie Rogers Cummings. Private Services and Interment was held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery where full military honors were accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard. Jackie Dale Lipps

Jackie Dale Lipps, 67, of Pennsboro, WV, departed this life on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at his residence. 

He was born March 21, 1955, in Weston, WV, a son of the late Roscoe Harvey and Juanita Lucille (Francis) Marks. 

Jackie worked as a carpenter and iron worker in Texas. He graduated from auto body school in North Carolina.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, campfires, cards and dice. He was very detail oriented and liked to work on projects that involved wood and leather.  Jackie was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.   

He is survived by his children, Timmy D. Lipps of NC, Christie Lipps Knapp of MS, and Matthew L. Lipps of Harrisville, WV; siblings, Harvey K. Lipps, of Frazeyburg, OH, Roscoe L. Lipps (Brenda) of Fort Worth, TX, Johnnie I. Marks. (Pamela) of Pennsboro, WV, Carl D. Marks of Pennsboro, WV, and Gene T. Marks of West Union; step sisters, Tiny and Rhonda Marks, and several loving nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by nephew, Harvey Kent Jr., and sister-in-law, Sandy Lipps. 

Funeral services will take place at 3pm, Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the McCullough Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV.  Visitation will take place from 1-3pm on Wednesday.

Rita Rae Ford

Rita Rae Ford, 92, of Salem passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at United Hospital Center with family by her side. Rita was born July 13, 1930 in Center Point, WV, daughter of the late Claud C and Rilda S Stackpole Swiger. Rita was a homemaker that loved spending time and taking care of her family with big meals and time together. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and bowling. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of WV, 30 Orpha of Salem and the Welcome Baptist Church where she was in the choir and taught Sunday School. Rita is survived by six children, Mitchell (Debbie) Ford, Eric (Fran) Ford, all of New Cumberland, Jeffery (Shelby) Ford of Buckeye Community, Rita “Sharon” Askounes, New Cumberland, Diana (Kenneth) Rauth, Weirton, and Vickie (James) Carpenter, Williamsport, PA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Hollie Ashcraft, Doylestown, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Emery L Ford who passed on October 30, 1996 and whom she married on July 9, 1950; five siblings, Loren Swiger, Bonnie Boyce, Louise Birkhammer, Bertha Mae Edgell, and Warren “Junior” Swiger. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 1-5PM. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Welcome Baptist Church Big Battle Road Salem WV at 12Noon with Pastor Robert Marino officiating. Steven Dale Thayer

Steven Dale Thayer, 68 of Salem passed away on July 8, 2022, at his residence. He was born March 26, 1954, in Akron, OH, son of the late Robert L and Elaine D Curtis Thayer.

Steven served his country in the United States Army for three years. After the Army he then worked as a welder until he started working for the United States Post Office where he was employed for over twenty years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on his land.

Steven is survived by one brother, Gary E Thayer, and wife Linda of Norton, OH.

In addition to his parents, Steven is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Tanner Thayer.

Steven will be cremated and there will be no services.
