VETERANS DAY

Dear Editor,

May 30 Memorial Day, is the day of remembrance of the fallen who have served.

Soon we will be celebrating Veterans Day, November 10.

This day has been set aside to honor the veterans who have returned from the devastating conditions of war and service.

Some came back whole, some not as fortunate. Some with post traumatic stress syndrome.

These individuals should be honored for their service in preserving our freedom.

Personally, I celebrate these people when ever I can. I seen the uniform I’ll have bought a soft drink, pay for a lunch or dinner. Just to let them know they are remembered with honor and respect.

If you are a vet reading this, thank you!

I had the privilege to meet some World War 2 aviators on their way to Mobile Alabama for their annual gathering.

They were in their seventies and talkative. I hung on every word during the two hour flight. What a great bunch of old guys. I told them I had never flown before.

They were amazed that at 50 years old I had never flown before.

They had flown mission after mission during war.

To all the veterans who served for our benefit, I offer a heart felt thank you.
