Violet Mae Gaskins

Violet Mae Gaskins, 94, of Salem passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at United Hospital Center with family by her side. Violet was born August 13, 1928 in Shirley, WV, daughter of the late Charles Everett and Nancy Evelyn Thompson Lasure. Violet graduated from Doddridge County High School. She worked as a Seamstress at the Garment Factory in West Union for twenty-five years. Violet enjoyed traveling, reading, quilting, sewing, gardening, and most of all spending time with her family. Violet is survived by five children, Lynda Kinney, West Union, Carl Gaskins and wife Debby, Shinnston, Lillian Travis, Salem, James Gaskins and wife Lorraine, Good Hope, Jesse Gaskins, Salem; son-in-law, Bob Zirkle, Buckhannon; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Basil “Carl” Gaskins who passed on January 22, 1986 and whom she married on September 20, 1947; daughter, Virginia Zirkle; sons-in-law, Richard Kinney, Steve Travis, Lawrence “Rick” Jenkins. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Monday, September 26, 2022 from 3-7PM. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Robert Marino officiating. Christopher Allen “Chris” Nesbitt

Christopher Allen “Chris” Nesbitt, 52, of Salem passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 and joined his best friend Bo Clevenger who passed in 2020. Chris was born May 29, 1970 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of Robert “Bob” Allen Nesbitt and Teresa Ellen Boynton Nesbitt of Lake City, FL. Chris had worked as a cook for Salem International and enjoyed playing video games, especially airsoft, grilling out and was and avid NY Jets and NY Yankees fan. In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his six children, Samantha Arnett, Salem, Kristopher “Kris” Chism, Copperas Cove, TX, Josh Hopkins and Chey, Morgantown, Sophiea Hopkins and Christopher, Clarksburg, Teresa Nesbitt and Matt, West Milford, Christine Nesbitt and Wyatt, Dayton, OH; mother of Josh, Sophiea, Teresa and Christine, Patricia Hopkins, Salem; nine grandchildren, Adrianna, Ayden, Trinity, Paisley, Talitha, Kennedy, Olivia, Christian, and Raiden; his companion, Deeva Knudsen and her children, Lacey, Lilly and Levi Shepherd; his brother, Paul Joseph Nesbitt and his two children, Donna and Andrew; he was like a second dad to Kane and Jasmine Clevenger. Chris is preceded in death by his best friend Bo who passed away November 2020. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301 on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Stonewall Park Cemetery in Stonewood.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to his care fund on his memorial page.
