McKinley Statement on Voting Against the Democrats’ Reckless Spending and Tax Hike Bill

Washington, D.C. — Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E. (WV-01) issued the following statement after voting against the Democrats’ so-called “Inflation Reduction Act,” which is merely a rebrand of “Build Back Better.” The bill would spend over $700 Billion on far-left priorities, raise taxes on virtually all Americans, and fuel inflation.

“As Americans are being crushed by forty-year high inflation, sky high prices for groceries and gas, and uncertainty about the economy, the Democrats’ answer is to spend more, tax more, and push their far-left priorities,” said Rep. McKinley.

“The so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” is merely their reckless “Build Back Better” plan in sheep’s clothing. Multiple independent experts have confirmed it will have minimal impact on inflation – and may even make it worse. Under their plan, middle class Americans will pay more in taxes.”

“Rather than unleashing American energy production to bring prices down, the Democrats are using this bill to push their extreme climate agenda. Rather than hiring more border patrol agents to stop the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants over the border, they want to hire more IRS agents.”

“The Democrats are out of touch and are failing the American people. They will be held accountable in November.”
