Guss Kelley, Local Businessman 

Passes

Guss Thomas Kelley, 70, of Greenbrier Rd. Salem departed this life on Sunday, July 3, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on February 19, 1952 on Black Lick Rd. Salem to the late Morice Edward and Rosemary Edith Nicholson Kelley.  On May 6, 1973, he married Merelene Heflin Kelley who survives along with his children, Olivia Nicole Kelley Delgado and husband Tony, Falls Church, VA, Ryan Kelley and wife Brandi, New Milton, grandchildren, Austin and Abby Kelley.  Guss was the last surviving member of his immediate family being preceded in death by one brother, Robert Jerry Kelley, two sisters, Linda Kelley Junkins and Sherry Kelley Crouser.

Guss was a 1970 graduate of Doddridge County High School where he played football and basketball.  He was the owner and operator of Line Clearance Inc. for 26 years.  Guss enjoyed farming, riding his Harley and mentoring kids through his many years coaching youth baseball.  He was the biggest fan of cheering on the Doddridge County Bulldogs, especially when his children and grandchildren were on the field, as well as supporting the WVU Mountaineers.  Guss was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home Front St. West Union on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ken Kelley presiding.  Interment will be on the family farm.  The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. and after 11 a.m. on Thursday until time of service.  Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.spurgeonfunerals.com.  Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Kelley family.
