Mary Virginia Primm

Mary Virginia Primm, 86, of West Union, WV (Oxford Road Community), departed this life on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV, surrounded by her family.

Mary Virginia was born July 12, 1935 in Fairmont, WV, the daughter of the late Morgan and Mary Ethel (Bever) Morgan.  She was a proud graduate of Doddridge County High School with the class of 1953 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Salem College. 

She served as an elementary school teacher for Doddridge County Schools for 30 years until her retirement.  Mary Virginia was known for her teaching of handwriting to her students in which she excelled.  She was a longtime member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of West Union where she served as Sunday School teacher and Sunday School superintendent for many years.  She also was active in her women’s Bible study class and enjoyed singing in the choir. 

She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star #56 of West Union, WV, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, member of Doddridge County CEO Mutual Benefit Club, DAR, and the Doddridge County and National Education Association.  Her farm in Doddridge County was recognized as a Doddridge County Century Farm; the family farm that Mary Virginia continued after the passing of her late husband, Olin.  She was well known for her cooking and baking that she did for the farmhands over the years.  Her family especially enjoyed her mincemeat pies and devil dog cookies.  She greatly enjoyed gardening, working with her daffodils and crocus flowers, and she was the most patient person who always had a positive outlook, and encouraged those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jeanne Dotson and husband Charlie of West Union, WV (Oxford Road Community); her granddaughters, Megan Danielle Bonnett and husband Chad of Hurricane, WV and Ashley Nicole Dilger and husband David of Clarksburg, WV; her great grandsons, Carter James Bonnett, Callum Marcus Dilger, and Darren Emerich Dilger, along with loving nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Olin Everett Primm in 2014, and her brother and sister in laws, Charles and Ethel Prim, Loren and Ruth Ann Primm, and Paul and Donna Williams. 

Mary Virginia’s favorite Bible verse has always been Psalm 23.  On the day of her passing, she received a card in the mail at her home which read, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.’’ Psalm 23:6 KJV.

Funeral services will be 1pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV with Pastor David McCauley officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the West Union Masonic Memorial Park.  Visitation will take place from 4pm-8pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 and from 11am-1pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the ER and CCU staff at UHC for their care of Mary Virginia as well as the dialysis team at Fresenius Kidney Care of Anmoore for the last three years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her name be made to the Doddridge County Community Foundation, a PACF affiliate, 1620 Park Avenue, Parkersburg, WV, 26102-1762 or to a charity of your choice.

Clyde J. “Dink” Hendershot

Clyde J. “Dink” Hendershot, Jr. 56 of Salem passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his residence with family by his side.

Clyde was born December 7, 1965 in Clarksburg, WV, son of the late Clyde J. Hendershot Sr and Erma “Peggy” Ruth Norman Hendershot. 

Clyde worked as a truck driver and also worked as a rock blaster on several road jobs. He collected model cars, knives, wolves and dream catchers. 

Clyde is survived by his daughter, Amanda Dawn Ross and companion, Andrew Morris, Clarksburg; two stepsons, Jackie Leonard and partner Jeremiah Jones of Clarksburg, John Leonard and wife Mary of Salem; companion, Tammy Brooks, Salem; three grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Malena, and Andrainne; seven step grandchildren, Krystal, Jacklin, Johnny, Isaac, Brian, J.J. and Walker; sister, Diana Bonnell and husband Leon, Salem; Kevin, Chris and David Bonnell along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his stepson, James Leonard.

Kinsley Grace Burns

Kinsley Grace Burns, just shy of 1 year old of Salem passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at home in the loving arms of parents and family. 

Kinsley was born June 1, 2021 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, daughter of Jesse James Burns and Clarissa “Clowey” Christine Davis.  

In addition to her parents, Kinsley is survived by a sister, Maeryn Burns; maternal grandparents, Gene and Elizabeth Beavers Davis, Salem, paternal grandmother, Jessica Mersing, Terra Alta; paternal great great grandmothers, Vonda Mersing, Terra Alta, Edna Britton, Terra Alta; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Katherine “Kathy” Jean Pernell

Katherine “Kathy” Jean Pernell, 47, of Salem passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. She was born May 29, 1975 in Clarksburg, daughter of James Hadden Sprouse, Stonewood and the late Deborah Jean Shreeves Sprouse.  Kathy attended Liberty High School. She had worked at Wincore Windows in the plant.  She collected angels and dolphins. She enjoyed camping, fishing, planting flowers, gardening and making people happy. In addition to her father, Kathy is survived by her companion, Jerry “JR” Allen Forinash Jr, four children, Allen White, Tallahassee, FL, Colton Travis and Rebecca, West Union, Brooklein Price, Clarksburg, Jhadden Pernell, Mount Clare; two grandchildren, Corbyn, Autumn and one on the way; like a father, Jerry Allen Forinash Sr. and his family; one sister, Kristina Messenger and Rusty, Jarvisville; two step-sisters, Bobbie Sue Swiger and Gene, Jennifer Shreeves, all of Clarksburg; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her mother, Kathy was preceded in death by her twin sister, Kimberly Gaye Sprouse. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W. PAMELA LOU EDGELL BAILEY

Pamela Bailey of Dallas, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2021.  She was born in the Saint Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg, WV, on June 8, 1941. Pam was the daughter of the late Max and Nelle Randolph Edgell of Lake Floyd, Bristol, WV.

Pam lived a full life as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a small business owner and Tai Chi Instructor.  She lived in Taiwan and Mainland China five years learning martial arts and teaching English as a second language.

Her husband, Conrad Bailey, preceded her in death.  She is survived by her daughter, Kimberley Ann Vega of Dallas;  son, Bradley Scott Temple and his wife, Alexandra both of Dallas; two grandsons, Trey Vega of Houston and Sean Bradley Temple of Dallas: her sister, Sandra Sue Kittredge and one great nephew, Max Kittredge, both of Center Point, WV.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the K of P Cemetery in Salem, WV.  Pastor Joe Hoggard of the West Union First Assembly of God will be officiating. 

Albert Ray Richards

Albert Ray Richards, 67, of West Union, WV (Central Station Community), departed this life on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Albert was born October 18, 1954 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Herbert Richards and Betty (Elliott) Marshall.  He retired from Hall Drilling where he served as a dozer operator for many years.  He loved hunting, fishing, operating dozers, watching westerns, and sitting on his blue New Holland tractor.  Albert was also the owner and operator of Al’s Landscaping for many years. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lillian Marie (America) Richards; his daughter, Shauni Ross of West Union, WV; brothers, Herbert Richards (Nicki) of New Milton, WV and Pete Alan Richards of Bartlett, OH, and his sisters, Judy King (Clyde) of Little Hocking, OH, and Janet Treadway of Barlow, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Sheets. 

In accordance with Albert’s wishes, he will be cremated.  McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements.
