Mirijana Beram
Mirijana Beram, 69, of Riggins Run Rd. West Union departed this life on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Croatia on June 16, 1952, a daughter of the late Bosko and Simica Knezevic Beram.
Surviving is one daughter, Alice Beram Foley, Morgantown, and one sister, Anka Beram, West Union.
Mirijana was retired from Dominion Energy as a Mapping Specialist. She received her Bachelor’s of Science of Degree in Environmental Science from Stockton State University, Galloway, N.J. She was very involved in environmental activism in this area. Mirijana was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning, quilting and being 100 % unabashedly herself.

Veta Mourine Balis Lewis

Veta Mourine Balis Lewis, 96 of Big Flint Rd. Salem departed this life on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at her residence. She was born on June 8, 1925 in Salem a daughter of the late Wade and Ha- zel Ford Flanigan. Twice married she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Balis andher second husband James Lewis.
Surviving is one son, Edwin Balis and wife Garnett, Salem, one daughter, Mary Earl, Soddy Daisy, TN, grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Balis, Cynthia Gore, Valerie Ralston, Richie, Matthew and Joyanna Earl, great grandchildren, Emily, Olivia and Ja- cob Balis, Spencer and Connor Gore, Micah, Chloe, Wesley and, Kyla Ralston. Two sisters, Wilma Balis, Eleanor Fultz and two brothers, Ted and Brooks Flanigan also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lewis was a 1943 graduate of Doddridge County High School. She owned and operated Balis Upholstery and Interior Design for over 40 years. She owned several rental units on her property and enjoyed farming hereford cattle, and growing strawberries. Veta was a member of South Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, Clarksburg. She was a 4-H Leader for 15 year’s in Doddridge County. In spite of her illness and declining status she reinforced her total commitment of her life to her family and many friends by expressing her devotion, love of Jesus Christ and personal love to all.
Funeral services will be con- ducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Donnie Balis and Pastor Denver Burnside presiding. Interment will follow in the W.V. National Cemetery, Pruntytown. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.harbertfuner- al home.com. Sandra “Sandy” E Glaspel

Sandra “Sandy” E Glaspell, 70, of Salem passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at United Hos- pital Center with family by her side.
Sandra was born April 8, 1951 in Clarksburg, WV, daughter of the late Wilford and Helen Miller Sandy. Sandra graduated from Bristol High School, Class of 1970. She worked as a CNA for Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation and took great joy in helping others. She was a member of the Shinnston Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her family.
Parkinsons may have affected her life but it didn’t take away her wit and sense of humor. Anyone that knew her knew how she was one of a kind. She will be greatly missed.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Heather Cochran and fiancé, Aaron Bell, Lake Floyd; one granddaughter, Shallyn Burkhammer and husband, Zackory, Bridgeport; one grandson, Ayden Cochran, Lake Floyd; one step- granddaughter, Kaya Bell, Nutter Fort; great grandson, Mason Burkhammer; special friend, Don Miles; one sister, Judy Davis and husband Keith, Flinderation; one brother, Richard Sandy and wife Cookie, Houston, TX; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Glaspell in 1992.
The family would like to thank Bridgeport Healthcare Care Center for her time there and a special thanks to her granddaughter, Shallyn for taking such good care of her.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 2-7PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Pas- tor Kevin Nuzum officiating. Interment will follow at Salem I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
