In collaboration with the West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness, the United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties will coordinate a street count of individuals experiencing homelessness in Doddridge County beginning on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022 at 4pm until Thurs- day, January 27th, 2022 at 3:59pm.
During this 24 hour period, volunteers and the local service agency staff will collect information on the homeless population in Doddridge County. The Point-in-Time Count seeks to identify the number of home- less individuals and families in the county. The count measures the needs of those experiencing homelessness and provides direction for the future development of services. Data collected during the count provide agen- cies in the area with vital information to be able to seek funding to provide services for people experiencing homelessness.
In order to prepare for the Point-in-Time Count, the United Way of Har- rison and Doddridge Counties will hold an online training that will enablevolunteers to assist with the count. Volunteers will be equipped with the skills to reach out and assist this vulnerable population. The training will be held via google meet on Monday, January 24th at 2pm. The training is also available to view online at any time. To access the training, please email Marissa Rexroad at [email protected] to register.
