Izzy Strikes

After of almost a week of Weather Alerts, Watches and Warnings, the now named storm, “Izzy” slid into and through Doddridge County on January 16th through January 17th, with rain, ice, sleet, some wind and ending up leaving bunches of snow to contend with for the Monday morning commute. (Bunches of snow was unofficially reported as being 3 inches up to 7+ inches, depending on the area of the County was reporting.) 

With Monday being Martin Luther King Day, the Schools, County, State and National offices were closed decreasing the number of people traveling the roads, with Rt. 50 being covered with a slushy mess and the side roads reportedly being even worse. 

By the end of the workday, closures, to include the Doddridge County Schools, Health Department, Courthouse, were rolling in for Tuesday, the following day along with various meetings to include the County Commission Meeting.  

Through Izzy, the power remarkably stayed on and there was only one wreck reported in Doddridge County through the storm. 

Heading forward, we have rain & snow predicted for Wednesday the 19th into Thursday the 20th and possibly another storm for Friday the 21st  into Saturday, the 22nd
