Commission Holds Regular Meeting

Tuesday, December 7, 2021 

Doddridge County Commission President, Shawn Glaspell called the December 7th, Commission meeting to order at 4:00PM, after holding a moment of silence and reciting the Pledge. 

Commissioners Glaspell, Means and Travis were all present. 

The Commissioners approved the November 2nd meeting minutes. 

Under Public Comments, Mr. Means spoke about Pearl Harbor and the price that our military and families paid to make America the greatest nation. Both Travis and Glaspell agreed with Means and added to the conversation. 

New Business opened up with the Commissioners considering a funding request  made by the Doddridge County Public Service District in the amount of 4.1 million dollars for the Rt. 23/Tarklin project.  After discussion of where the PSD is on the Blandville project and noting that until they had the substantial completion document in hand they could not move forward with the Oxfords project, the Commissioners approved the 4.1 million dollars to move forward with the Tarklin/Rt. 23 project. 

Jennifer Wilt, E+DC Economic Development Authority requested the Commissioners appoint the EDA as the Lead Economic Development Entity for the County FY 21/22. Her request was  approved.
   The Commissioners approved  acquiring a Cyb-er Vulnerability Scanning System at the cost of $1320 per year to protect all pf the devices on their internet from hackers.

Cassandra Snyder requested the use of the WUGS Gym. The Commissioners disapproved her request because this was for a for profit business rather than a not for profit business. 

George Eidel reported as Floodplain Manager there was no new floodplain permits submitted. 

He went on noting as OEMS Director, that he had participated in the vaccination pick ups; had attended the weekly State meeting; attended the Floodplain Managers Conference; Met with the National Weather Service who predicts 22 will run close to the 21 weather; and met with FEMA.

Neal Romain for the DCAA Reported: The DCAA has $391,525.06 in the bank and Income for November was $13,344.59. He also reported the parking lot had been started and the new ambulances are to be inspected tomorrow. 

David King, CoW, noted they had repaired the commode in the Museum bathroom and work on the Annex was moving forward. 

There was two Exonerations, One Probate Order on Vacation approved and no Budget Revisions presented.

The meeting adjourned around 4:45PM, at which time the Commissioners paid the bills.
