OBITUARIES

Merton Delvin Hinzman, 69, of West Union, WV (Grove Summers Community) departed this life on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at his residence.

Delvin was born April 16, 1952 in Shirley, WV a son of the late Clarence M. and Arma G. (Vincent) Hinzman.  He was retired after 38 years of service to Troy Mills, LLC of Harrisville, WV.  He also worked in a steel mill in Ohio and growing up, worked as a logger.   He greatly enjoyed farming, putting up hay, and watching his westerns.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean (Reed) Hinzman; children, Melinda Sue Hinzman of Marietta, OH; Michelle Perkins (Tony) of Pennsboro, WV; Mer

ton D. Hinzman, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Salem, WV; Timothy Somerville (Alisa) of Reedy, WV, and Rick Somerville (Janette) of Cairo, WV. Grandchildren, Jacob Wright, Madison Hazzard, Clarinda Perkins, Autumn Hinzman, Connor Hinzman, Hunter Hinzman, Henzley Hinzman, Shyann Somerville, Rayne Somerville, Casch Somerville, Willow Somerville, Gaby Murphy, Aiden Murphy, and Colin Murphy; brothers, Al Hinzman of Cabin Run, WV, Larry Hinzman (Sheila) of OH; Randy Hinzman (Bonnie) of Summers Community and sisters, Colleen Dezorf (Larry) of OH, Marcella Ash of OH, Marsha Dean (Richard) of OH, and Debbie Friend (Darwin) of OH. Sister in laws, Lil Hinzman of TN and Mona Hinzman of OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dale Hinzman, Denny Hinzman, Melva Heyd, Karen Mellin, and sister in law, Marylou Hinzman.

Visitation will take place from 4pm-8pm Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Raiguel Funeral Home in Harrisville, WV.

James Gary “Jim” Ross

James Gary “Jim” Ross 71 of New Milton departed this life on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital.  He was born on April 28, 1950 in Clarksburg a son of the late Lucille Ross.  On December 31, 1977 he married Connie Trent Ross who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Melissa Stephenson, West Union, one son, J.R. Ross (Brittany), New Milton, grandchildren, Sean Reed (Casey), Samantha Reed and fiancé Andrew Grimes, Haley Lipscomb (David), Marissa Stephenson (Cameron), Hadley and Jensen Ross, great grandchildren, Lukas Reed and Chloe Sue Grimes, cousins, brother & sister in laws, several nieces and nephews and his golfing buddies.  In addition to his mother one daughter Sue Ann Reed preceded him in death.

Mr. Ross was retired from Key Oil as a Well Tender and had over 40 years service in the Oil and Gas Industry. Jim was a member of the Blandville United Methodist Church and Friendship Lodge #56 AF & AM.  He enjoyed playing golf and hunting.  Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.  He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Davis presiding.  Interment followed in the Middle Island 7th Day Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family received friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2-8 p.m.
